Quart Into a Pint Pot

Brief:
The parents would have liked to grow all their own food & herbs organically but with four children under 6 (!) play was paramount.  The trampoline had to stay. Parking was an issue – the small boundary marker was bumper height and there was no room for people and cars.

Opportunites:
The soil was great.

Challenges:
How to fit it all in.  They needed a garden 10 times the size for their wish list.

Solution:
The veg space was moved to the front where the kids would be closely supervised when helping. The boundary marker was replaced by a line of recessed setts and the drive retarred.  The trampoline was recessed and a custom-made circular play frame built around it featuring swing, monkey bars, a den, steps – wobbly and fixed – and a slide which had a long run-off area for extending into a water chute. Dad’s hammock could even be hung somewhere – if he ever got peace to use it!  The play frame was painted to play down the black trampoline and match the overall colour scheme of grey, orange and blue.
